All we ask is that you run your pace consistently for 18 miles and keep your group on the course (so its important that you memorize the route map Here!). What's involved?This event is not a race so your job will be more casual than that of the race day pacers - we won't even make you carry a big sign. I'd like to volunteer to lead one of your pace groups. Winner will be randomly selected at the 18 Miler and announced before the start of the event. The VIP Area includes private port-a-potties, private gear check, warming area, massage and more all within 2 blocks of the International Half/Full starting line! Online registration closes at 12pm on Friday 9/9 unless the event sells out beforehand.Īll attendees will be entered to win a pass to our FREEP VIP Area. Event capacity is limited so register before it sells out. The entry fee goes towards the port-a-potties at the start/finish and the aid stations on the course. There is a $8 + fees registration cost for this event. For heat safety reasons all participants must be able to complete this run in 3 hours 40 minutes or less (a 12:15 pace). We will provide Pace Leaders at these pace per mile intervals 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 11:00 and may add more depending on RSVPs.

Restrooms along the course are limited but will be marked on the course map ( Click here for route map). Port-a-potties will be provided at the start/finish. Staffed water stations will be provided approximately every 4 miles with energy gels & hydration drink around the halfway mark. The roads we are running on WILL be open to regular auto traffic so we will be running on side walks/pedestrian paths. The run will leave from the RUNdetroit store promptly at 8:10am on Sunday September 11th. The route will feature miles 14-26 followed by 9-14 of the Marathon course.

but in order to prepare for participants, the race route on the Canadian side will be shut down to traffic from 6 a.m. The race will kick off in Detroit at 7 a.m. Organizers say the Dequindre Cut and Eastern Market additions seem to have especially resonated with their runners, and both offer great visuals. This includes a significantly updated route through greater downtown Detroit, including passage through District Detroit, Midtown, Woodbridge, Eastern Market and the Dequindre Cut. The Marathon course features the most dramatic changes since the event's founding in 1978, according to organizers. After a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Windsor will once again be welcoming the participants in the Detroit Free Press Marathon to the waterfront.
